Freedom of Information requests are a powerful tool to expose the relationship between the state and outside interests, including big business, powerful individuals, and even the religious lobby. Our panel brings together journalists from across Europe who have used FOI requests to expose how private interests can influence government decision making. The panellists will discuss their successful investigations, and tips and techniques for getting access to key documents. They will also explain how they pair up with pro bono lawyers to challenge exceptions. The panel shall provide an opportunity to swap ideas and methods between journalists on how to leverage the power of Freedom of Information requests.
