Catarina Carvalho is the founder of Mensagem de Lisboa, a local community new media in Lisboa. And what a ride it has been, connecting the city dots, telling stories and contributing to “empathy” in the city. Mensagem has been serving communities throughout the city and focusing on underprivileged groups. Catarina was previously a media executive in traditional media in Portugal. She is on the board of the World Editors Forum (Wan-Ifra), is a PhD student, and was a visiting fellow at the Reuters Institute in Oxford.
