Jamil Anderlini is POLITICO’s Regional Director in Europe. In this role, he is responsible for driving and implementing POLITICO’s strategy across the entirety of its European business, as well as elevating and strengthening the publication’s voice on the global stage.
Having previously managed POLITICO’s European newsroom as Editor-in-Chief, Jamil’s extensive journalistic achievements and sharp strategic insights have shaped the publication’s success in Europe. With a deep understanding of both the editorial landscape and the rapidly shifting world of global politics, Anderlini oversaw POLITICO’s expansion across a variety of different markets alongside a unified newsroom strategy with the company’s American operations.
An award-winning journalist, editor, and published author, he joined POLITICO from the Financial Times where he spent six years as Asia Editor, Assistant Editor and member of the Editorial Board, overseeing all editorial coverage and strategy throughout Asia. He also previously held roles as Beijing Correspondent and Beijing Bureau Chief for the Financial Times, Beijing Correspondent for the South China Morning Post, and Chief Editor of the China Economic Review. In addition, Anderlini was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2013.
A US and New Zealand native, Anderlini speaks fluent Mandarin.
