
Lela Vujanić is a media policy researcher, educator, and editor from former Yugoslavia, specializing in media funding and non-profit media production. She is Regional Research Manager for Central and Eastern Europe at Global Project Oasis, a research initiative led by SembraMedia that maps independent digital media, news creators, and publishers-in-exile across 68 countries.
Previously, she initiated and led non-profit media projects—both print and digital—focused on social movements, social rights, and contemporary culture. She also served as Chief Program Manager for Rijeka 2020 – European Capital of Culture and headed the Media Department at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia. A former Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow in Journalism at the University of Maryland, she continues to explore sustainable media models and contribute to various media outlets with her writing.
