Milàn Czerny is a journalist specializing in OSINT-driven investigations. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Associated Press, OCCRP, Haaretz, The Moscow Times, and other publications.
At The Wall Street Journal, Milan contributes to the enterprise video team, where he leads long-term investigations and supports visual reporting projects. He also works with the WSJ’s Russia bureau, focusing on changes in Russian society during the war by relying on OSINT and hard-to-access sources within the country.
He previously worked as an investigative reporter for Shomrim, Israel's only independent non-profit investigative news organization, where he covered the war in Gaza with a focus on follow-the-money reporting. His work at Shomrim led to the imposition of international sanctions against violent Israeli settlers and Russian actors engaged in influence operations. Prior to Shomrim, Milàn worked as a special correspondent for the Russian-language independent media outlet, The Insider.
Milan holds a Master of Philosophy in Russian Studies from Oxford University, and a Bachelor of Arts from King's College London, War Studies Department. He is fluent in French, English, Russian, and Hebrew.
