Sarah Ward-Lilley

Sarah Ward-Lilley is a commercial mediator and executive coach with a specific focus on leadership development, resolving conflict in the workplace and crisis management. She became a CEDR accredited mediator in 2021.

Prior to this she had a long and distinguished career as a journalist, producer and senior leader at the BBC. Until last year, she was the Managing Editor on the board of BBC News and Current Affairs, responsible for talent management, presenter strategy, pay frameworks and development. Prior to this, Sarah spent 4 years as Head of International Bureaux, overseeing a network of nearly 70 BBC offices around the world. She has also been Deputy Head of Newsgathering and Head of Special Events. Sarah represented the BBC on the News Committee of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), 2017 to 2021.

From 2014 to 2020, she was Chair of the Rory Peck Trust, a charity which provides advice, resources and emergency assistance to freelance newsgatherers. She is also a School Governor and in 2015 she was the first non-clinician to be elected to the Board of the UK Psychological Trauma Society. She was made an MBE in the 2020 New Year Honours for services to mental health and journalism.
