Silvia Viñas is a journalist, editor, and audio producer who has covered Latin America for over a decade. She has worked at Radio Ambulante Studios for ten years and is the executive producer and co-host of El hilo, a weekly news podcast focused on the region. Previously, she worked as the Latin America Regional Editor for Global Voices, an international community of writers who curate, verify and translate news from social media and independent media worldwide. Her work has been featured on the BBC, Al Jazeera, NPR, The Economist, PRI, and The New York Times Magazine. She has also written for The New York Times en Español, Washington Post Opinión, Columbia Journalism Review, World Policy Journal, and the Council on Hemispheric Affairs. Silvia was born in Uruguay and grew up in Spain and several Latin American countries.
