Stéphane Horel is an investigative journalist at Le Monde, specialising in corporate harm, toxic industries and scientific disinformation. She has written several books and, in her former life, directed a dozen documentaries. Her investigations into corporate lobbying have won several awards. She won the European Press Prize for Investigation for the Monsanto papers with Stéphane Foucart in 2018, and has twice been awarded the Louise Weiss Prize for European Journalism (2017, 2024). She is a passionate practitioner of cross-border journalism, developing innovative investigation methodologies. She coordinated the Forever Lobbying Project (2025) and the Forever Pollution Project (2023), which revealed the extent of contamination by ‘forever chemicals’ PFAS in Europe and for which she received the European Science journalist of the year award.
