The panel will explore the challenges that journalists face when covering Indigenous Peoples and their link to environmental issues. How can we collectively create a safe environment that supports meaningful reporting and giving voice and space to Indigenous Peoples to tell their own story? In 2020, a third of the 227 activists murdered globally came from indigenous communities. How can the media cover indigenous issues without co-opting the narrative?
You can view a special 360 video showing the lives of the Kiriri Indigenous Peoples in the Hotel Rosetta Conference Room lounge from 11.00 to 18.00 on the day of the panel (Saturday 22 April).
