Simon Galperin is an award-winning journalist, technologist, and organizer using media to strengthen democracy. He is the founder and Executive Editor of The Jersey Bee and CEO of Community Info Coop.
The Jersey Bee is a nonprofit local news organization that works with the people it serves to meet info needs, increase civic participation, and improve quality of life for its diverse community in Northern New Jersey. Community Info Coop is The Bee's parent organization and uses media policy, organizing, and practice change to make journalism more representative of people of color and working class communities.
Simon is a 2022 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow, 2019 Reynolds Journalism Institute Fellow, and received his M.A. in Engaged Journalism in 2016 from the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York. Simon previously worked in business development and community engagement roles at GroundSource, Opinary, and ProPublica.
