Sonia Delesalle-Stolper

Sonia Delesalle-Stolper is Chief Foreign Editor of the French daily Libération.

She began her career at the Paris headquarters of the French news agency, Agence France Presse (AFP). In January 1996, she was posted in London as a foreign correspondent for AFP. From 2002, she went on to work as a freelancer for several French publications, radio stations and TV networks, including Le Figaro, L’Express, Politique Internationale and TF1. In 2009, she became UK and Ireland correspondent for Libération.

In her 25 years in the UK, she covered Tony Blair’s three premierships, the Northern Irish Peace Process, the aftermath of Princess Diana’s death, the 2005 London bombings, the return to power of the conservatives, the 2012 Olympic games, and, of course, Brexit and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

In her time there, she also regularly intervened in UK media commenting on Anglo-French relations including op-eds for The Observer, The Guardian and The Independent. She also commented on French politics for the BBC and Sky News.

In January 2021, she returned to Paris becoming Deputy Chief Editor at Libération, as well as Chief Foreign Editor. In addition to French, English and Russian, Sonia is also fluent in German and speaks basic Spanish.
